Walter Weldon Wood

Mr. Walter Weldon Wood, 86, formerly of Riverview Road, died Friday at Brookstone Rest Home after declining health. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, March 19 at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Reverend Randy Foster. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the home of his son on Tyro Road. Mr. Wood was born October 10, 1924 in Davidson County to Walter Avery Wood and Cora Pierce Wood. He served in the US Army during World War II and later retired from Dacotah Cotton Mills. He was a member of VFW Post 3074 and the American Legion Post 8. His wife, Marie Michael Wood, preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Danny Wood and wife, Jill, of Lexington; his grandchildren, Carmen Wood Mutch and husband, Jason, of Cornelius, and Matthew Wood and wife, Candace Spillers-Wood of Wilmington; and his great grandchildren, Abby, Ryan, Hannah Grace, and Rachel Mutch of Cornelius. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292. Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
