Wanda Russell Atkins

Wanda Ann Russell Atkins, 80, of Lexington, North Carolina, passed away at her home on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

A memorial service to honor her life will be held 4:00pm Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Matt Dawson. Family will receive friends after the service.

Born on March 11, 1945, in Montgomery County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Milbery Russell and Tommie Mullinix Russell. Wanda was of Christian faith and faithfully served her community through her work at Davidson Farmers Co-op. She was a graduate of West Montgomery High School and Kings College.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rhonda Callicutt, and her husband, Kenneth.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 62 years Tommie Clifton Atkins; daughters, Sharon Willard (David) and Tracie Dawson (Matt); sister, Rosalind Berrier (Randy); and six grandchildren.

Wanda will be remembered for her infectious smile, encouraging words, kindness, dedication to her family, and love for Jesus. She always had a special Scripture passage or work of encouragement to everyone she met. She was compassionate to the hurting and generous to those in need. She truly embraced the call to love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself.

In honor of Wanda please wear bright colors as Wanda loved color.
