Wanda Gayle Bivens Black, 63, of Hege Drive, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2009, at Madison Heights Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. David Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery.
Mrs. Black was born November 1, 1946, in Davidson County, to Robert Lee Bivens and Lillie Jane Abernathy Bivens. She attended Madison Heights Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Cid Olin Black; a sister, Vera Morrison; and a brother, Edward Bivens.
Surviving are sons, Jeffrey Lamar Snyder and wife, Tammy, and Jody D. Snyder and wife, Tanika, all of Lexington; four grandchildren, Carrie Snyder, Aaron Snyder, Breanna Tate, and Jason Snyder; brothers, Martin Bivens and wife, Linda, Frankie Bivens and wife, Sherry, Norman Bivens and wife, Marla, and David Bivens and wife, Rickye Ann, all of Lexington; and sisters, Debbie Ledford and husband, Gene, Donna Spry and husband, Tony, all of Lexington, and Barbara Benfield and husband, Ron, of Georgia.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Jody Snyder on Whispering Oaks Drive.
