Wanda Holt O’Daniel Daye, 91, of West Second Avenue, died Monday, August 1, 2016, at Lexington Health Care.
The funeral will be 2:00 pm Saturday at First Reformed United Church of Christ with Rev. Elizabeth Horton and Rev. Mike Hooper officiating. Burial will follow in Pilgrim Reformed Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm Saturday in the church parlor.
Mrs. Daye was born November 13, 1924, in Rowan County, to Herbert Patrick O’Daniel and Mary Ida Wishon O’Daniel. She was a graduate of Spencer High School and earned her undergraduate degree from Catawba College. She later completed her Graduate work at William and Mary and Appalachian State University. She taught school for 40 years in Pennsylvania, Virginia and North Carolina before retiring from Randolph County School System where she had served as an E.C. Resource teacher. She was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Carl Theodore Daye.
Surviving are daughters, Debbie D. Everhart and husband Bruce of Lexington, Nancy D. Greene and husband Ray of Charlotte, and Kathy D. Carter and husband Randy of Concord; grandchildren, Amanda Everhart, Matthew Everhart and wife Jennifer, David Everhart and wife Amanda, Josh Greene, Mary Elizabeth Greene; and six great-grandchildren.
