Wanda Marie Roberts Angel

Wanda Roberts Angel, 67, left her earthly home on April 21, 2015, to meet her Heavenly Father. She is now reunited with her late parents, Earn and Edith Roberts, as well as her brother Kenneth. Wanda was born on January 14, 1948, in Lenoir, NC. At age 13 she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at vacation Bible school. As a teenager, she moved to Winston-Salem where she graduated in 1966 from Parkland High School. She was married to her lifelong sweetheart Herman “Sonny” Angel, Jr. for 47 years. They had two children who will treasure their mother’s precious memories; daughter Pam McBride of Asheville, son-in-law Kerry and grandchildren Sheldon, Kerrigan, and Madison; son Jon Angel of Greensboro and grandchildren Victoria and Lauren. Her loving siblings are Charles, Harold, Thomas and C. Janice Roberts. Members of her family and her friends have been blessed by her devotion, gentle and loving spirit, and heart to help in time of need. Throughout her life, Wanda constantly discovered new talents and undertook adventures. From motorcycle riding, guns, and woodworking to painting, sewing, and gardening, her life was enriched with diverse hobbies. She became certified in basic wildlife rehabilitation in 2005. For the past 10 years, she was a passionate surrogate mother to many wildlife babies. She was also a mentor in the field to her fellow rehabbers. Over the years, Wanda’s employment opportunities included W.T. Grant, Hotel Robert E. Lee, the medical practices of Dr. Sinthusek and Dr. Thomas Mutton, and IMC Fertilizer. She was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown, NC. Faith in her Lord has been Wanda’s foundation throughout life, and her peace during her last days. Her life of strength, love, and untiring determination will continue to influence the lives she has touched. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel with Pastor Jon Bowman officiating. A visitation will follow. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at the National Cemetery at Salisbury. In lieu of flowers, Wanda’s memory can be honored by donating to Wildlife Rehab Inc., P. O. Box 24552, Winston-Salem, NC 27114.
