Wanda Payne Martinez

Wanda Kay Payne Martinez, 36, of Asheville, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at her home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gospel Light Freewill Baptist Church in Thomasville by the Revs. James Sheley and Sherman Sexton. Burial will be at Arrington Heights Freewill Baptist Church in Lexington. Ms. Martinez was born in Davidson County on Oct. 21, 1971, to Addie Sexton Oakes and the late David Clifford Payne. She was employed by the Billing Department at the VA Hospital in Asheville. Surviving are her mother, Addie, and stepfather, Bob Oates, of Lexington; a brother, Steven McMinn and his wife, Shanda, of Lexington; a sister, Kathy Bell and her husband, Alton, of Winston-Salem; her maternal grandmother, Inez Stanley of Lexington; and three nephews and one niece. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and at other times at the home of her mother, 157 Clark Snider Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
