Wanda Gail Brittain Short Norris

Wanda Gail Britten Short Norris, 75, of Lexington, gained her wings. January 20th, 2024, at her home in Lexington.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, January 24th, 2024, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Hopkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday night at the funeral home and other times at the home on Albert Dr., Lexington.

Wanda was born July 25th, 1948, in Burke County, retired from Lexington Memorial Hospital with 44 years of service as a RN having worked in Med/Surgical Services. She also worked in other departments in Lexington Memorial Hospital where needed. Wanda was loved by all of her patients and everyone that she came in contact with. Wanda grew up at the Junior Order Home in Lexington, and having put herself through high school and college. Wanda had lots of kids that she called her own, and she also supported the Support Our Troops Foundation. When you met Wanda you met a great person, who had never met a stranger. When you became her friend, she counted you as a family member. Her passion was her faith, family, friends, and was a faithful Tarheel Fan. She will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Larane and Shirley.

Left to cherish her memories are her niece, Betty (Scott) Davenport, sons Brett and Kevin Davenport, daughter Hope Davenport (David), best friend/sister Diane (Charlie) Bowen, daughters Alie (Luke) and Carlie, best friend/sister Darlene (William) Linkous, daughters Melissa (Jim) son Billy, Heather, and Tessa (Franky) son Matthew and daughter Cadence. Sisters Diane, Karen, Jewel, and Linda.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
