Wanda Sims Williamson

September 17, 1956 — February 7, 2021

Wanda Sims Williamson, 64, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center.

A private celebration of life will be held by her close family at a later date.

Wanda was born September 17, 1956 in Cleveland Mississippi to Lewis Coleman Sims and Vira Frazier Sims. As one of four children, her love of learning led her to be the first to go to college and pursue a career in teaching in North Carolina. In her over 30+ years of teaching, Wanda first taught special education and then got her Masters degree from Appalachian State University in Middle School science where she taught at Clemmons Middle School since 1999. She approached teaching as she approached life: she believed learning was lifelong exploration that could be filled with fun. She loved the outdoors, discovering new places, and planning family adventures with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving is her son Ryan McNeill (Sheri) and daughter Lisa Braziel (Billy); her siblings Jimmy Sims, Lewis Sims, and Charlotte Sims Griffin; along with her pride and joy: her three grandchildren who knew her best as “Nana”: Eli, Brooke, and Claire.
