Warner Butler Tharp, 90, of Rogers Road, died Sunday, January 5, 2014, at High Point Regional Hospital, following several years of declining health.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home with the Rev. Bynum Orr officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park with military graveside rites presented by Davidson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Mr. Tharp was born February 6, 1923, in Paducah Ky., to Jim Tharp and Annie Biggs Tharp. He was a retired mechanic and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 8 and Moose Lodge. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, June Marie Nance Tharp; his first wife, Rhoda Dalton Tharp; and sisters, Mary Blomer and Norma Tharp.
Surviving are son, Ronnie Tharp and wife Janky of High Point; daughters, Frances Wood of Archdale, Betty Tyson of Kernersville, Shirley Tate of High Point and Cathy Green and husband Jimmy of Thomasville; grandchildren, Ricky Wood, Jennifer Kiser, Stephanie Tate, Lindsey and Cody Green; great-grandchild, Brennan Faye Kiser; and sister, Deannie Vanhoy of Archdale.
