Wayne Byerly

Wayne Benjamin Byerly, age 80, of Heath Church Road, Lexington passed away Sunday morning (Dec. 4, 2011) at Abbotts Creek Care and Rehabilitation. Graveside service will be 4:00 pm Wednesday (Dec. 7, 2011) at Holly Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery with Rev. Butch Conrad officiating. The family will greet friends after the graveside service at the cemetery and other times at home. Wayne was born in Davidson County, October 18, 1931 to Oscar Thomas Byerly and Dora Tesh Byerly. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church; a retired employee of Davidson County Schools, working at Davis Townsend Elementary as a Custodian. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 8. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sara Grace Leonard and a brother, Jerry Byerly. Surviving are; his wife, Jeanie Cross Byerly of the home; daughter, Dora Byerly Hufton and husband John of Lexington; son, Tommy Wayne Byerly of Lexington; a grandson, Nicholas Brent Byerly of Lexington.
