Wayne Essick

Herman “Wayne” Essick, 76, of Marion Lane in Lexington, passed away Thursday February 9, 2023, at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center in Lexington. A funeral service will be held 10:00 am Saturday February 11, 2023, at North Lexington Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Revs. Gavin Pratt and Dr. Robert Floyd officiating services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am to 10:00 am Saturday at the church. Mr. Essick was born November 19, 1946, in Davidson County to Ella Essick. Wayne enjoyed spending time with family, going on vacation, riding go-karts, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his mother; a brother, Eddie Essick; and a sister, Ann Manns. Surviving is his wife Brenda Jean Everhart Essick of the home; three sons, Mike Essick (Jessie) of Mountain City Tennessee, Steven Dunn of Lexington, and Jeremy Dunn (Ashley) of Asheboro; two daughters, Theresa McElyea (Tony) of Mountain City Tennessee, and Jennifer Nobles (Roger) of Fayetteville NC; one sister, Mae McQueen of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Corey Essick, Jennifer Gardner, Jordan Dunn, Roger Nobles Jr., Holly Saddler, Devin Roberts, and Megan Roberts; and numerous great-grandchildren. Memorial may be made to North Lexington Baptist Church, General Fund, 201 Mize Road, Lexington NC 27295. Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel is serving the family.
