Wayne Jessie Harrison, 88, of Old U.S. Highway 64 East, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at Lexington Health Care.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hedrick's Grove United Church of Christ, where he was a member, by the Rev. John Roberts. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Harrison was born in Davidson County on Sept. 1, 1918, to Benjamin Harrison and Lena Loflin Harrison. He was retired from Coble Dairy and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 3074, Amvets Post 13 and American Legion Post 8. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Craig Harrison and Herlie Harrison.
Surviving are his wife, Willie Mae Smith Harrison of the home; one son, Larry Harrison Sr. of Lexington; one daughter, Lynda Charles and her husband, Wayne, of Lexington; three grandchildren, Jeff Charles, Mike Charles and Larry Wayne Harrison Jr. and his wife, Chastity; four great-grandchildren, Megan Charles, Hailey Harrison, Landon Harrison and Breanna Harris; and two sisters, Myrtle Lee Pritchard of Asheboro and Lucille Turner of Denton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the home.
