Wayne Keith

Luther Wayne Keith, of Lee Ave. Lexington, died Tuesday December 22, 2009 at his home after declining health of 2 ½ years. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday December 26, 2009 at Lexington City Cemetery with the Rev. Lewis Johns officiating. A Memorial Service will be held at Coggins Memorial Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 6:00 PM with Revs. Lewis Johns and David Shaffer. Mr. Keith was born in Burke County on July 10, 1934 to Eugene Walker Keith and Minnie Lou Esther Hill Keith. He graduated from University of North Carolina in 1964 with a degree in Pharmacy and retired from Revco Drug Stores. He was well known for his extensive knowledge of NASCAR history and an avid collector and writer of numerous NASCAR publications. He served in the US Air Force and was a member of VFW Post 3074, Amvets Post 13, and American Legion Post 8. He was a member of Coggins Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Debra Younts Keith of the home, sons Kendall Keith and wife Debra of Denton and Jacob Wayne Keith of the home, daughters, Kelly Keith Perry and husband Danny of Denton, Karen Keith Petree and husband, Del of Lexington, Katie Keith Hill and husband Rick of Denton, Sarah Keith Fuentes and husband Marco of Thomasville, grandchildren Cassidy, Brittany and Stephanie Keith, Mandy Cole, Keith Perry, Cole, Paige and Carter Terrell, Rayanna Petree, Miranda and Savannah Hill, Madison Fuentes, and great grandchildren, Deacon Cole and Colby Terrell, brothers, Gary Norman Keith and wife DonRea of Sanford. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Coggins Memorial Baptist Church and at other times at the home on Lee Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Coggins Memorial Baptist Church, 1306 S. Main Street, Lexington NC 27292.
