Wayne Michael Lanier, Sr., 83, of Leonard Rd., Lexington died Friday, January 13, 2012 at his home after several years of declining health.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 4, 2012 in Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Rev. Duke Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Mr. Lanier was born April 14, 1928 in Davidson County to James Nathaniel Lanier and Nona Michael Lanier. He was a retired Tax Assessor for the State of Maryland, and attended Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Wayne loved the game of Golf. Preceding him in death was his parents, his wife, Margaret Parker Lanier and a daughter, Carolyn Lanier.
Surviving are two sons, Wayne “Mike” Lanier, Jr., Bill Lanier both of Idaho; two grandchildren, Jinell Lanier, Andra Clever and husband, Shane both of Idaho; four great grandchildren, Khyenna, Tristen, Alyssa, Mason Clever; three brothers, Jim Lanier of Lexington, Dwight Lanier of Greensboro, Ralph Lanier of Dobson and a sister, Emogene Cope of Lexington.
