Wayne Lee Meadows, age 63, of Old Highway 52, Welcome community, passed away at his home on Monday (10/31/2011). Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington DC at a later date.
Wayne was born in Danville, Virginia, January 7, 1948 to Roy “Buddy” Meadows and Lelia Estelle Hodnett Meadows. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Vietnam War, where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign and Service Medal and The Purple Heart. He was a member of VFW Post 3074, American Legion Post 8 and Amvets Post 13. He was preceded in death by his parents and a long time Vietnam buddy, Stephen Pierce.
Surviving are; his daughter, Angela Arthur and husband Cleetus of Lexington; his son, Wayne Lee Meadows, II of Lexington; three grandchildren, Bradley Arthur, Brandon and Kelly Meadows; three sisters, Betty Jo Queen and husband Eugene and Carol Meadows all of Lexington and Tammy Lemons of Thomasville; one brother, Larry Lemons of Lexington; niece, Tracy Tate and husband Greg and many friends of The American Legion and Amvets.
