Wayne Michael

Kenneth “Wayne” Michael 73 passed away Wednesday (December 21, 2011) evening at Forsyth Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday (December 23) at Center United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Stephen Pillsbury. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following burial in the Christian Fellowship Center. Wayne was born in Davidson County on February 28, 1938 to Kenneth Lawrence and Nellie Freedle Michael. He was a supervisor with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co. and a member of Center United Methodist Church. He also served in the US Army. He was preceded in death by his father. Surviving are his wife Libby Essick Michael of the home; four sons, Duff Michael and wife Anna, Tony Michael and wife Rhonda, Chris Michael and wife Stacie, Jody Michael and wife Jennifer all of Welcome; his mother; Nellie Freedle Michael of Welcome, one sister, Sylvia Pleasant and husband Billy of Lexington; sister-in-law, Jane King and husband Tom; eleven grandchildren, Sydnie Michael, Kacie Michael, Landon Michael, Keeli Michael, Levi Michael, Hence Essick, Riley Michael, Alden Michael, Griffin Michael, Kade Michael and Kara Michael; two great-grandchildren, Dylan Essick and Macy Essick. Memorials may be made to Center United Methodist Church Christian Fellowship Center, 186 Center Church Road, Lexington, NC 27295. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
