Wayne Norman

June 20, 1928 — January 5, 2014

Wayne Norman, 85, of N. NC Highway 150, died Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home with Preacher Clyde Akers, the Revs. Eddie Fowler and Ken Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Mr. Norman was born June 20, 1928, to George and Agnus Norman. He was owner/operator of the Shell station in Reeds and Wayside Sunoco before becoming a dump truck driver in 1973, for his sons at Norman’s Backhoe Service, where he drove until retirement in 2009 at the age of 81. He was a faithful, lifelong member of No Creek Primitive Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and was instrumental in the planning and building of the new fellowship hall. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Pauline Norman who died August 10, 2009; brothers, Jack Norman and Junior Norman; and sister, Betty Jean Forrest. Surviving are his wife, Lois Yarborough of the home; sons, Roger Norman (Darlene) and Ray Norman (Pat), all of Lexington; step-daughters, Carol Yarborough (Mike) of Mocksville and Brenda Robinson (Dwayne) of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, Kirstie Butner (Bobby), Andrea Leonard (Stephen) and Rogjanna Byerly (Danny); and step-grandchildren, Joshua Tenland, Robert Curtis (Misty), and Tyler Robinson; great-grandchildren, Ashley Butner, Beth Butner, Leighanna Byerly, Kelby Leonard, Delanna Byerly; step-great-grandchild, Liberty Curtis; brothers, Glenn Norman (Marie), ED Norman (Marie), Fred Norman (Evelyn), Jimbo Norman (Henrietta), Albert Norman (Ellen); and sister, Marie Myers (Bill Miller). In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hinkle Hospice House and Alston Brook for the love and care given to Mr. Norman.
