Wayne Phillips

Dowery Wayne Phillips, age 82 of Freewood Road, Lexington passed away Thursday night February 2, 2017 at Lexington Health Care.   Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, February 6, 2017 at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Doug Pryor officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Mausoleum from 10:00 until 11:00 am prior to the service.   Wayne was born in Davidson County November 19, 1934 to Hoke Phillips and Nellie  Wood Phillips. He was a retired employee of Lexington Furniture Industries and was a lifelong member of Friendship United Methodist Church. He served his country in the US Army. Among other interests, he greatly appreciated the work of local artists. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Loretta Young Phillips.   Surviving are his daughter, Lea Ann Lopez and husband Tony of Charlotte; grandson, Matthew Phillip Lopez of Charlotte; a sister, Charlene Phillips of Lexington and a niece, Joanie Blankenship of Lexington.   The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Brookstone Assisted Living Center for their kindness and care.   Memorials may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church, 2840 Friendship Church Road, Lexington, NC  27295
