Webster Noah Swicegood

June 14, 1947 — January 11, 2025

Webster Noah Swicegood, 77, of Lexington, passed away on January 11, 2025, at his home in Lexington.

Webster was born June 14, 1947, in Lexington, NC to Jennings Clegg (Dick) Swicegood and Veigh Catherine Sink Swicegood. He graduated from West Davidson High School and attended Appalachian State College and graduated from the North Carolina School of Banking.  He was a Vice President of Lexington State Bank (now FNB) and retired from there after 25 years of service.  Webster then served as the Facilities Manager for Richard Childress Racing for the next 20 years before retirement.  In retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Julia, all over the U.S., Canada, especially their many U.S. "road trips" as well as visiting parts of Mexico and the Caribbean.  He loved the outdoors, particularly fishing with his buddies at Oak Island, NC.

Webster was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many people.  He loved his church and served in many capacities.  His great passions were his family, especially his wonderful grandchildren, reading, cooking and hosting his friends each week.  He will always be missed by his loving family.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Julia Essick Swicegood, daughter, Meredith Duffey (husband Chris) and son, John Swicegood (wife Landace); Grandchildren, Katherine and Connor Duffey and Zoey and Piper Swicegood along with his sister, Ruth Swicegood, all of Lexington.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Tyro Methodist Church with the Rev. Randy Foster officiating.  The family will greet friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall at the church.
