Wilbur L. Beck, 78 of Thurman Beck Rd. Lexington passed away Sunday January 12 at Pine Ridge Health & Rehabilitation in Thomasville after an illness of six months.
A Funeral service will be Friday at 2:00 PM at Davidson Funeral Home, with Rev. Craig Bartholomew officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington and other times at the home of his grandson, Jonathan Burleson on Old NC Hwy 75.
Mr. Beck was born in Davidson County, on June 1, 1935, to Fred McDonald Beck and Elvida Hunt Beck. Before retirement he was a supervisor with Cunningham Brick Company. His love for farming was one of the many things he enjoyed throughout his life. He loved racing and NASCAR and was present at many of the races at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro. His feline friends, Tinker, Blondie, Bootsie and Buster were always welcome on his lap. Mr. Beck also loved his church and was a member of New Jerusalem Lutheran.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Peggy Crotts Beck of Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation in Thomasville; daughters, Deborah Burleson and husband Vernon Hayes of Lexington and Sharon Ward and husband Scott of Hickory. He has three grandchildren, Jonathan Burleson and Fiancée Aimee Morales, Andrew Burleson and wife Carrie all of Lexington and Taylor Ward of Hickory; sister, Betty Wright of Lexington.
