Wilbur Franklin Harrison, 79, of Jerusalem Road, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at the Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Amazing Grace Baptist Church, where he was a member, by Pastor Jerry Bowman. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Salisbury.
Mr. Harrison was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Davidson County to Wade Harrison and Ethel Hedrick Harrison. He was retired from PPG Industries, a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict, a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3074 and lifetime member of DAV. He was also a member of American Legion Post 13 and The Royal Order of the Moose. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as four brothers, William Harrison, Tommy Harrison, Richard Harrison and Charles Harrison, and one sister, Ollie Pennon.
Surviving are his wife, Stella Marie Hedrick Harrison of the home; one stepdaughter, Patricia Hedrick Beasley and her husband, Freddie, of Sylva; two brothers, Jimmy Harrison and his wife, Beverly, of Lexington and Wade Harrison and his wife, Helen,of Statesville; two sisters, Martha Hill and her husband, Horace, of Lexington and Geraldine Harrison of Southmont; a stepgrandson, Jason Brent Hedrick; and a special sister-in-law, Carolyn Harrison.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church Monday.
