Wilhelmina (Virgie) Avery Wicker

Wilhelmina (Virgie) Avery Wicker, age 95 of Burler Street, Lexington passed away Sunday afternoon, June 25, 2017 at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Thursday June 29, 2017 at Lexington Church of God with Revs. Rodney Merrill and J.C. Miles officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the service. Virgie was born in Harnett County, June 22, 1922 to Neal Rufus Avery and Ada Gertrude Byrd Avery. She was a retired manager of Roses Department Store. She was a member of Lexington Church of God and had served as, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Minister, choir member and in the ladies Ministry. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alvis (Moon) Wicker in 2011; son, Mitchel (Mickey) Wicker; a granddaughter, Michelle Wicker; son-in-law, Lewis Martin; sister, Pansy Gertrude Junkins and brothers, Neal Junior and Sherrill R. Avery. Surviving are her daughter, Janice Martin of Lexington; son, Richard (Dickie) Wicker (Brenda) of Lexington; grandchildren, Bret Martin, Josh Wicker, Chantelle Lytle and Eddie Carter; great-grandchildren, Courtney and Anthony Moss, Bruin Lytle, Jessica, Mariah and Isaac Wicker, Vincent and Emma Rae  Carter; great-great granddaughter, McKenzie Moss; sisters, Mary (Polly) Woodburn and Dorothy Elizabeth Johnson (Bobby) all of Lexington and brother-in-law, Walter Junkins of Lexington.
