Willard Eugene Smith

Willard Eugene Smith, 72, of Conrad Hill Mine Road, died Friday, January 10, 2014, Hinkle Hospice House. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Hedrick's Grove Reformed United Church of Christ, where he was a member, with the Rev. William Sowers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home. Mr. Smith was born May 5, 1941, in Davidson County, to Roby Marshall Smith and Zula Hedrick Smith. He was a retired engineer from Winston-Salem South Bound Railway. His parents preceded him in death. Surviving are his loving wife, Maria Lucia Zeta Smith of the home; son, Jesse Smith of Lexington; daughters, Tracy Ann Smith, Holly Poplin and husband Steve, and Jillian Luth and husband Greg, all of Lexington; five grandchildren, Rebekah Poplin, Levi Poplin, Taft Luth, Tucker Luth, and Audrey Cooper; and sister, Mary Teague and husband Jim of Lexington.
