William Ronald Batten

William Ronald “Bud” Batten, 87, passed peacefully on Thursday April 24, at his home in Winston Salem. Bud was born November 1, 1937, to the late Julian Patrick Batten and Myrtle Ethel Batten, in Charlottesville, VA. He is preceded in death by daughter, Teresa Owen Tate and sisters Dorothy Grace Hunt and Shirley Anne Mochel.

After retiring from Sprint in 1996 Bud and his wife Carolyn spent their time in Meadows of Dan, Va. He enjoyed working in his shop, feeding the birds, especially his hummingbirds, welding, and in earlier years, caring for his horses! Bud and Carolyn traveled extensively, taking many cruises and going on cross country road trips. All of their adventures left wonderful lasting memories for Carolyn.

Bud is survived by wife, Carolyn Snow Batten, son Barry Kent Batten, granddaughter Kristin Leigh Rutherford (Warren), grandson Austin Kent Batten ( Emily), great grand children, Hadley, Bronwyn and Shanleigh Rutherford, Colsin and Wrenley Batten. Brothers, Donald Sherwood Batten and Julian Patrick (Pat) Batten Jr. (Maurya), sister Susan Carole Batten-Bell (Jim). Close family members, Krystle (Cameron), Madison, Maggie and Camden Collie and Suzanne (Mark), Dillon and Tyler Shotwell. As well as a host of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on May 10, 2025 at 1pm at New Vision Baptist Worship Center in Clemmons NC. The family would like to send a special thanks for the care and compassion shown to Bud and Family by Hospice of Davidson County.
