William Jacob "Jake" Berrier

June 24, 1926 — July 7, 2011

William Jacob “Jake” Berrier, 86, of Hoover Drive, died Thursday, July 7, 2011, at his daughter’s home in Thomasville. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Madison Heights Freewill Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Debra Owens in Thomasville. Mr. Berrier was born June 24, 1926, in Davidson County, to Charlie E. Berrier and Mae Link Berrier. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from Lexington Telephone Company. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vern C. Berrier, who died January 17, 1997; brother, John Henry Berrier, Charlie Junior Berrier, and Early Berrier; and sisters, Elvie Younts, Bonita Pressley, Dorothy Bates, Rachel Cranford, and Ruby Shoaf. He was also preceded in death by a son in law, Kenny Owens Surviving are his wife, Martha Bivens Berrier of the home; son, Mike Harmon and wife, Carol, of Lexington; stepdaughters, Brenda Tews of Monroe, Ga., Debra Owens of Thomasville, and Becky Byerly and husband, Paul, of Lexington; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Lawrence Berrier of Arcadia and Alex Berrier of Greensboro. Memorials may be made to Madison Heights FWB Church, 214 Andrew Sink Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
