William "Bill" Hansford Fitzgerald Sr.

William “Bill” Hansford Fitzgerald Sr. age 75, of Winston Salem passed away Friday, August 23, 2014 at his home with family. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Monday, August 25, 2014 at Berean Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Baity. Burial will follow to Parklawn Memorial Park with military honors. The family receive friends at 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service. Bill was born November 23, 1938 in Augusta County VA to Hoy “Red” William Fitzgerald and Audrey Elizabeth Fitzgerald. He was a member of Berean Baptist Church and had retired with Womble Motors. He served in the United States Air Force. He preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife Carolyn Christine Whitacker Fitzgerald of the home, sons; William Hansford Fitzgerald Jr. ( Mary Ellen) of Panama City, FL, Rory I. Fitzgerald (Michelle) of Greensboro, Robbi Bradley Shoaf (Cookie) of Winston Salem, Eddie Shoaf (Beverly) of Winston Salem, daughters; Jenny Elizabeth Simpkins (Jimmy) of Ashland City, TN, Penni Wilkes (Kim) of Clemmons, brothers; Mac Fitzgerald (Jeannie) of Gloucester, VA, Wayne Fitzgerald (Anna Lisa) of Lexington,VA, sister; Mary Eastman (Neil) of St. Augustine, FL, twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The family would like memorials sent to: Hospice & Palliative Care Centers of Forsyth County 101 Hospice Lane Winston Salem, NC 27103. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
