William "Bill" Herman Smith

William “Bill” Herman Smith 78 passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016 at the The Oaks.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thurday at First Alliance Church with Rev. Paul Titus and Rev. Ben Landes officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.   A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel.   Bill was born in Pitt County, NC to the late Herman Hoover Smith and Mary Forrest Smith.  He served in the US Navy and was a member of First Alliance Church.  He retired from US Air (35 years of service) and was a member of US Air (Piedmont) Local 2444, Retirees Club.  Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Ed Smith.   Surviving is his wife of 59 years Arlita Sink Smith of the home; two sons, Donnie Smith of Denver, CO and Steve Smith (Marianne) of New Braunfels, TX; two sisters, Evelyn Spillers (Charles) and Vivian West; sister-in-law Barbara Smith; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.   Memorials may be made to First Alliance Church, Great Commision Fund, 1370 Arnold Rd., Lexington, NC  27295.
