William "Bill" Franklin Summit, 77, of College Park Road, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, at his home after declining health of five years.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Rev. Bobby Parker. Burial will be in Jont-Brown Cemetery, Boone.
Mr. Summit was born Sept. 9, 1929, in Boone to William Hoke Summit and Elsie Grace Brown Summit. He retired from McLean Trucking with 32 years service and was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jalamae Maxwell.
Surviving are his wife, Anna Lee Hayes Summit of the home; two sons, Wilby Frank Summit of Louisiana and Kenneth Douglas Summit of Lexington; four daughters, Cynthia Ingalls and her husband, Preston, of Raleigh, and Charlotte Lea Summit, Mia Cooper and her husband, Rick, Penny OnaMarie Brittain and her husband, Jonathan, all of Lexington; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Lee Summit of Ohio; four sisters, Ollie Ramage, Martha Owens and Sherry Grimm, all of Ohio, and Jackie John of Florida; and his loving dogs, Bridgette and Callie.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
