William Phillip Coppley

February 26, 1933 — June 7, 2012

William Phillip Coppley, 79, of NC Highway 8, died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at his home following a sudden illness. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Mountain View Baptist Church with the Revs. Tim Miller and Michael Collier officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Mr. Coppley was born February 26, 1933, in Davidson County, to Archer Coppley and Freda Owen Coppley. He was retired from PPG Industries after 35 years of service in the Furnace Hall maintenance department. Mr. Coppley served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and had also been employed at United Furniture for 30 years and was a member of Southmont Volunteer Fire Department. He attended Mountainview Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Homer Coppley and Steve Coppley; and sisters, Zeola Jarrett, Martha Nance, Bernice Floyd, and Maggie Hughes. Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Linda Biesecker Coppley, of the home; daughters, Leann Collett and husband, Roger, and Tammy Maner and husband, Chuck, all of Lexington; grandchildren, Crystal Maner Jones and husband, Les, Rusty Maner, and Jake Collett; great-grandchild, Kamran Jones; brother, Leon Coppley and wife, Polly, of Lexington; and sisters, Bonnie Hedrick and husband, Colon, Tolvie Forshee and husband, Charlie, and Olena Byerly, all of Lexington.
