William Thomas Harris

William Thomas “Bill” Harris, age 78 of Hill Road, Lexington passed away Monday morning (October 19, 2009) at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday (October 21, 2009) at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Charlie Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park, Thomasville. Bill was born in Montgomery County, September 16, 1931 to Elisha Jones Harris and Augusta “Bunch” Saunders Harris. He was a retired employee of Thayer Coggins Furniture Company. A veteran of the US Army having served his country in the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Dexter Harris, three sisters, Maie Ward, Sarah Dorsett and Meredith Mize and one brother, Jack Harris. Surviving are: wife, Mary Kephart Harris of the home; one daughter, Gloria Epps and husband Harvey of Troy; three grandsons, Brian, Kirk and Dale; one great-grandchild; one step-daughter, Sidney Rudd of Danville, VA; two step-sons, Robert Duke of Mustang, OK and David Duke of Thomasville; three step-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 1:00 until 2:00 pm Wednesday, prior to the service.
