William Carol Leonard

William Carol Leonard age 75 of Bowers Rd., Lexington died Monday in Wake Forest U. Baptist Medical Center after a 10 month illness A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at New Friendship United Church of Christ where he was a member, conducted by Rev. Sarah Snell and Rev. Carol Dyson with burial at New Friendship United Church of Christ Cemetery with military Graveside Rites by VFW Post 3074. Mr. Leonard was born November 10, 1930 in Davidson County to Arthur Moton Leonard and Verdie Thomas Leonard. A former employee of PPG, and an avid Farmer, he was a member of the Brotherhood and Consistory at his church. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, was a member of the VFW Post 3074, Amvets Post 13 and the American Legion Post 8. He is survived by his wife Sarah Younts Leonard of the home, sons Kelly Leonard and wife Loretta; Leslie Carol Leonard all of Lexington, daughters Lori Leonard Mahan and husband Robert of the Lexington grandchildren – Meghan Raby; Molly Leonard; Matthew Leonard; Maranda Hinkle; Tessa Mahan and Tynan Mahan, brothers, Dr. Joel Leonard and Wayne Leonard both of Lexington and sisters LaRue Cline and husband Leon of Lexington; Nancy Baker and husband Jim of Martinsville, VA.
