William Stephenson Mcguinn

November 3, 1946 — April 22, 2024

William Stephenson McGuinn, Sr. 77, of Lexington, NC, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 22, 2024 at the Hinkle Hospice House at Hospice of Davidson County.

William, who was known to all as Billy,  was a graduate of Lexington Senior High School. He established himself in the furniture industry. A strong, hard-working entrepreneur, Billy was well regarded by his clients and colleagues as always being savvy and fair. Although he maintained several operating facilities in the Lexington area, he could reliably be found conducting his business and staying in close touch with his friends at Southern Lunch over breakfast.

Billy loved spending time at High Rock Lake and shared that passion with his family. He was a gracious, loving man, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Billy was born in Polk County, NC, on November 3, 1946, to the late J.D. McGuinn and Catherine Skipper York. Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Mollie Conrad McGuinn, his daughter Marinda Maxwell (Red) of Winston-Salem, NC, his son, William Stephenson “Steve” McGuinn, Jr. (Suzie) of Durham, NC, his grandchildren, Miller Dossett (Gus), Anna Catherine “Cassie” Maxwell and Reagan McGuinn, and his great-grandson Andrew “Drew” Dossett II.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Lexington at 201 W. Third Ave, Lexington, NC 27292, with the Rev. Tommy Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.

As a type one diabetic himself, Billy was a dedicated supporter of diabetes research. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to JDRF North Carolina Chapter, P.O. Box 1550, Hagerstown, MD 21741-1550.
