William “Couch Man” David Montgomery Sr., 75, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, at his home in Lexington.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

William was born on June 1, 1951, in Stokes County, to Cecil David Montgomery and Pearl Smith Montgomery.

Along with his parents, William is preceded in death by a son, William David Montgomery Jr.

William was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He had a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and worked as an Engineer until he retired. He was of the Baptist Faith. He served in the U. S. Army and was a member of Post 760 VFW Amvets in Welcome. William was an avid NASCAR fan. He was known as “Couch Man” and never missed a race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He will be missed by his three donkeys, that yelled at him everyday to bring them hay.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Annette Biesecker Montgomery; daughter, Alexandra Montgomery; brother, Dallas Montgomery; grandchildren, Reylan, Peyton, Jackson, Eli, and Levi Burke; son-in-law, Justin Burke (Melia); and special friend, Matt Humphrey.
