William Terry Nifong

William Terry Nifong, age 83 of Welcome went home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday August 29, 2018.

Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Bethesda United Methodist, Family Life Center with Pastor Michael Gates and Rev. Rick LeBaube officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the service.

Terry was born in Davidson County August 24, 1935 to Robert Clifton Nifong and Mary Sally Leonard Nifong. He grew up on the family farm, working in the tobacco fields and at the sawmill. He spent his career working at R J Reynolds for 33 years, retiring from the position of Supervisor of Plant 605 Processing. In his free time he could be found at the local Flee Market, auctions, Picking and Grinning, dancing or tinkering in his garage. He will always be remembered for a great work ethic and an unwavering commitment to family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 45 years Nellie Louise McAbee Nifong; sister, Geraldine Scism and a brother, Wayne Nifong.

Surviving are his sons, Terry Eugene “Gene” Nifong (Cyndi) of Welcome and Danny Lynn Nifong (Sandra) of Arcadia; grandchildren, Victoria Nifong Gaither (Tim) of Midway; Veronica Leigh Weidl (Robert) of Pfafftown, Matthew Daniel Nifong (Sarah) of Raleigh and Erin Nicole Nifong of Chapel Hill; great-grandchildren, Kamrynn, Kyleigh, Laken, Kash, Kyngston and McKenzie; sisters, Gay Nell Brown and Carol Mason, brothers, George Nifong and Archie Nifong all of Lexington.

Family would like to extend a most grateful Thank You to Debbie Gaither for her companionship, time, energy and helping during the recent months and the Hospice Staff, especially Mary and Ashley for all you did and know it did not go unnoticed.
