William Rockford Hines of Old Thomasville Road passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at his home to be with his Lord. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Canaan United Methodist Church, where he was a member, by the Rev. Dana Wooten. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military graveside rights will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. Mr. Hines was born in Davidson County to Paul Hubert and Ora Clodfelter Hines. He was an Army veteran who served in World War II and was a member of VFW Post 619. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Sue Hines; a brother, Richard Hines; and a grandson, J.P. Keenan. Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Doris Smith Hines of the home; two daughters, Vickie Hartman and her husband, Steve, and Sherry Keenan and her husband, John, all of Winston-Salem; a granddaughter, Brandy Larking and her husband, Terry, and a soon to be great-grandson, Keenan Larking; a brother, Frank Hines and his wife, Betty, of Winston-Salem; a sister, Jane Ashby and her husband, Elmer, of Winston-Salem; also Pearl Smith of Winston-Salem. He will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews, whom he dearly loved. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel. Memorials may be made to Canaan United Methodist Church, 1760 Shady Grove Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107. .
