William Cyrus Simpson
William Cyrus Simpson, 92, died early Friday, August 24, 2007, at Alston Brook in Lexington, NC.
Mr. Simpson was born August 12, 1915, in Charlotte to Mary Elizabeth McClure and Wallace Greene Simpson. He lived most of his life in Dilworth before moving to the Hickory Grove community in 1961.
Mr. Simpson was married for 70 years to Ethel Philemon Simpson, who died in 2006.
Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Melanie Anne Simpson; three sons, William C. Simpson Jr., Wallace Kemp Simpson, and Ronald Sidney Simpson; four sisters, Clara Belle Simpson, Annie Elizabeth Simpson, Edna Louise Simpson, and Virginia Rey Robinson; and two brothers, Earnest Allen Simpson and Wallace Greene Simpson.
He is survived by a daughter, Sue Simpson of Decatur, GA; two sons, Jim Simpson of Carrollton, TX, and Ralph Simpson of Winston-Salem; a sister, Mary Courtney of Charlotte; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Simpson retired from Pelton & Crane. He was an avid gardener and a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe.
