William James West

William James West, age 70, of Goodwill Rd., Clemmons died Saturday, September 12, 2009 in Forsyth Medical Center after an illness of 6 weeks. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Welcome with Pastor Avery C. Vannadore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. West was born June 15, 1939 in Yakima, Washington to James Austin West and Helen B. West. He was a member of Light House Baptist Church and retired from the US Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Kenneth Elliott and a brother, George West. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Brendle West of the home, a son, Keith Elliott of Clemmons, a daughter, Karla Barker and husband, Gregg of Joliet, Illinois, six grandchildren, Tyler and Elisha Elliott, Lynniea, Matthew and Brittany Barker and Kenneth Elliott, and a sister, Katherine West of Organ City, OR. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME-HICKORY TREE CHAPEL and other times at the home.
