William "Billy" Whitaker

  William “Billy” Whitaker, age 85 of Olympia Street, Lexington passed away Sunday night (July 4, 2010) at Lexington Health Care.  Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday (July 8, 2010) at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Gavin Pratt and Dr. Robert Floyd officiating.  Burial at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive frinds at Davidson Funeral Home from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service.   Billy was born in Catawba County, March 2, 1925 to William Cornelius Whitaker and Esther Elizabeth Pope Whitaker.  He was a retired employee of Parkdale Mills and a member of North Lexington Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Franklin Whitaker.   Surviving are; his wife, Dorothy Sheppard Whitaker of the home; two daughters, Deborah Hollingsworth and husband Eugene of Lexington and Doris Tyson and husband Rev.
