William Woodrow “Woody” White, Jr., 68, died Wednesday afternoon, September 15, 2010, at his home in Butner, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2010, at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
A native of Cabarrus County, Mr. White was born April 8, 1942, in Concord, the son of the late William Woodrow Scott White, Sr. and Mallie Ware White. Mr. White enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in accounting and financial management. His interests included reading, classic movies and hosting family at his backyard grill.
Mr. White is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 45 years, Brenda; his son, Scott of Durham; a daughter, Allison Wright and husband, Kevin; three grandchildren, Halen, Adam, and Zachary Wright, all of Lexington; and sisters, Kandy and Kathy White and Patty Dailey and husband, Don, of High Point.
A special note of gratitude is extended by the family to the staff and hospitalists of Durham Regional Hospital, Select Specialty Hospital, Duke Homecare and Hospice and particularly to Dr. Jason Morrow, Medical Director of Palliative Care at Durham Regional Hospital, whose tireless efforts will always be remembered.
