William Bruce Yarbrough

William Bruce Yarbrough, 80, of Delta Street, went to his eternal home peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, surrounded by his daughters at his home in Lexington. In order to comply with directives from Governor Cooper’s office, a private funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 2nd in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Avery Varnadore officiating the service and will be streamed live on the Davidson Funeral Home Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome/ . A private family committal service will be held at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Bruce was born on September 6, 1939 in Davidson County to Elmo Daniel Yarbrough and Veta Myers Yarbrough. He graduated from Linwood High School Class of 1957. He married the love of his life, Linda Lou Cooper. They were married for 57 years. Bruce worked in the family business serving as vice president for Altar Hosiery Mill until its closure. He continued working in textiles at Adams-Millis Hosiery Mill until his retirement. Along with working in the hosiery mills, he developed and managed Junius Estates. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army. Having played from a young age up, he was a lifelong guitar player up until his passing. He enjoyed gardening and crocheting after retiring. Through the years, he donated over hundreds of his crocheted baby blankets to Alpha Pregnancy Support. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda Cooper Yarbrough; son, William “Bill” Bruce Yarbrough Jr.; son-in-law, Jim Cochell; and sister, Maxine Medlin. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by everyone. Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Suzanne Rohrbaugh (Nevin) of Greensboro; and Sandra Cochell of Charlotte; 6 grandchildren, Allan Rohrbaugh (Wynter), Daniel Rohrbaugh (Laura), Eddie Cochell, Abbie Cochell, Kenneth Cochell, Lily Mae Cochell; 2 great-grandchildren, Aidan Rohrbaugh and Crosby Rohrbaugh; and sisters, Betty Ruth Myers (Harold) of Lexington and Becky Bloxam (Percy) of Morehead City. The family wishes to thank a very special caregiver, Patsy Byerly, for the love she showed to their father.
