Willie Boone, Jr.

Willie Henry Boone Jr., 85, of N.C. Highway 150 South, passed away Tuesday night, Jan. 1, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Tyro United Methodist Church, where he was a member, by the Rev. Randy Foster. Entombment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home. Willie was born in Alamance County on Dec. 9, 1927, to Will Henry Boone and Emma Snider Boone. He was a graduate of Tyro High School and Catawba College. He was a retired accountant with Lucent Technologies and a veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law Sherry Boone; and brothers Robert, Raymond and Arthur Lee Boone. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Lillian Barney Boone of the home; daughter Tina Byrd and husband Rusty of Lexington; son Kenny Boone of Lexington; three grandchildren, Lauren Boone, Matthew Boone and Douglas Rish; and brother Daniel Boone of Tyro.
