Willie Mae Smith Smith, 95, of Carolina House, formerly of Linwood Southmont Road, passed away Saturday July 7, 2012 at Carolina House. A funeral service will be 11:00 am Tuesday July 10, 2012 at Jersey Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. Michael Collier and Rev. Morris Hollifield officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday at Davidson Funeral Home and at other times at Eddie’s home. Mrs. Smith was born March 10, 1917, in Davidson County to Willie L. Smith Sr. and Esther Victoria Sharpe Smith. She was a homemaker and very involved at her church including a member of The Carrick Circle of The Women’s Missionary Union, a former Sunday school teacher/director, choir member, vacation bible school principal and in charge of flowers for church services. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank M. Smith, three brothers: Charlie A Smith, C. Glenn Smith and W.L Smith Jr. and four sisters: Elizabeth Shropshire, Virginia Benson, Louise Hunter and Christine Trantham. Surviving are her son, Eddie Smith of Lexington, three grandchildren: Julie Smith of Lexington, Amy Gentry and husband Cliff of Connecticut and Jason Smith of Linwood.
