Willie Essick Medlin

December 28, 1922 — December 12, 2018

Willie Mae Essick Medlin, age 95, of Lexington passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Alston Brook.   A funeral service will be held at Bethesda United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Rick Lebaube officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.   The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington and other times at the home of Alma E. Craver.   Mrs. Medlin was born in Davidson County on December 28, 1922 to Fred Lee Essick and Zella Elizabeth Hinkle Essick. Willie was a graduate of Welcome High School as well as Ashmore Business College. She was a retired sales manager, having retired from the Belks shoe department after 50 years of service. She was also a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. Willie had a deep love for her church, her family, and especially enjoyed gardening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Medlin; four brothers, F. Holland Essick, Joe N. Essick, Colin A. Essick, and her infant brother, Ellis L. Essick; two sisters, Ruth E. Sink and Devara E. Everhart; four brother-in-law’s, A.N. Sink Jr, Richard C. Everhart, Frank Craver, and Larry Griffie; and two sister-in-law’s, Norene L. Essick and Hazel O. Essick.   Surviving are her brother, Casper Essick (Becky) of Lexington; two sisters, Alma E. Craver of Lexington and Peggy E. Griffie of Charlotte; sister-in-law, Theola J. Essick; and a host of nieces and nephews.   Memorials may be directed to Bethesda United Methodist Church Building Fund or Cemetery Fund at 2922 Bethesda Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
