Wilma Watts Kearns, age 93 formerly of Bud Sink Road, passed away Tuesday evening (3-17-2009) at Lexington Health Care. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Bethesda United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Hochmuth officiating. Burial will follow in Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Kearns was born in Stokes County, May 25, 1915 to Marshall P. Watts and Grace Alma Davis Watts. She was a graduate of Draughon’s Business College and a retired secretary with Randolph County Agricultural Department. A member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, Welcome Civinettes, and Davidson County Home Extension Club. She served her country during World War II, in the U.S. Women’s Army Corps. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles E. Kearns, April 9, 2007, brothers, Morris Watts, Bill Watts and Tom Watts and sisters Dorothy Montgomery and Edna Southard. Surviving are: three sons, Charles Thomas “Tom” Kearns and wife Pam of Lexington, James Watts “Jim” Kearns and wife Jane of Southmont and Lewis Allen Kearns of Winston Salem; four grandchildren, Michael Kearns, Ann Kearns Schaefer and husband Ronny of Lexington, Ryan Kearns of Clemmons, Traci Kearns of Asheville; one great-grandchild, Owen Charles Schaefer; one brother Frank Watts of Germanton and one sister Edith Merritt of Rural Hall. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary following the graveside committal service and at other times at the home of Tom and Pam Kearns, 779 Sink Road, Lexington, NC.
