Wilma Hedrick Leonard, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with Pastor Avery Varnadore officiating. Burial will follow in the Lexington City Cemetery.

The family will be available to receive friends from 10 am until 11 am prior to the service.

Born in Davidson County on July 17, 1937, to John Butler Hedrick and Vienna Tysinger Hedrick, Wilma was a beloved member of her community. She dedicated many years of her life as a fixer at Parkdale Mills before retiring, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and friends. Wilma was a devoted member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, where her faith and kindness touched the lives of many. She served as the Sunday School teacher for the Special Messengers class, where her compassion and dedication were felt by all. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Henry Mack Leonard, her brother Roby Hedrick, her sister Claytie Mae Crotts, and a grandchild, Joey Castillo. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will be remembered by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Ted Beddingfield (Cindy), Vanessa Castillo (Eddie), William Leonard (Martha), and Barbara Leonard (Angela). She is also survived by her sisters, Edna Berrier and Shirley Leffew (John), three grandsons, two granddaughters, one foster granddaughter, three great-grandsons, and three great-granddaughters.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The Gideon's International at P.O. Box 97251 Washington, DC 20090-7251, a cause close to Wilma's heart.

Wilma Hedrick Leonard will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and unwavering faith. May she rest in peace, and may her family and friends find comfort in the cherished memories they shared with her.
