Mrs. Winifred Virginia Ebelein Zimmerman Green, age 98 of Piedmont Crossing Homes in Thomasville and formerly of Kildee Drive, Lexington died Monday, March 1 at Piedmont Crossing Homes after a long illness.
A Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 7 at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Ray Howell 3rd and Rev. Dr. Lee Zehmer officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at the Lexington City Cemetery.
The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday, March 6 at Davidson Funeral Home and at other times will be at Piedmont Crossing Homes Unit # 127.
Mrs. Green was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, May 3, 1911, the second of eight children born to the late Louise Findling Ebelein and the late Edward Frank Ebelein. Mrs. Green was educated in the Lexington Public Schools and Mitchell College. She was a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church in Lexington.
She was first married to Herman Webster “Doc” Zimmerman who died in 1975. They had three children. She later married John Zebulon “Zeb” Green, Jr., who also preceded her in death in 2005.
Surviving are her three children, Herman Webster “Butch” Zimmerman, Jr., of Lexington NC, Dr. Robert Edward Zimmerman of Bristol, Illinois, and Winnie Marguerite Zimmerman Craven of Sparta, NC; one brother, Albert Ebelein of Easley SC, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
