Winnifred (Winks) Mccurdy Parker

Winnifred McCurdy (Winks) Parker, age 66 of Shelby Drive, Greensboro passed away Wednesday morning (November 24, 2010) at Beacon Place in Greensboro. A graveside service will be 2:00 pm Monday (November 29, 2010) at Lexington City Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Winnifred was born in Davidson County, January 5, 1944 to Howard Worth (Buck) McCurdy and Margaret Murray McCurdy. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lexington. She was a graduate of Lexington Senior High School Class of 1962, received her B.A. from Greensboro College and her Master in Education from UNC-Greensboro in 1986 and was a member of the Kappa Omicron Nu, National Honor Society. She was a retired Special Education Teacher with Guilford County Schools. She was preceded in death by her father; her daughter, Elizabeth Shelby Parker and a nephew, Robby Disher. Surviving are: one daughter, Alice Lindsey Parker of Raleigh; her mother, Margaret Murray McCurdy of Thomasville; one sister, Susan Disher and husband Robert of Gibsonville; niece McKenzie Hardison.
