Zelma Link Wicks

Zelma Francis Link Wicks, 89, of Fairway Drive, passed away, Sunday afternoon, March 29, 2009, at her home, after a prolonged illness.   The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, by the Revs. Kurt Johnston and Bill Sosebee. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.   Mrs. Wicks was born October 31, 1919, in Davidson County, to Stamey Coston Link and Heathie Miller Link. She married Edgar William Wicks after his return from World War II, where he served under Gen. MacArthur in the campaign of the Philippines. She was a lifelong member of Second Presbyterian; she graduated from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1964 to become a certified dental assistant. Her seventeen years of employment were served with Lexington Memorial Hospital, until early retirement, due to the death of her husband, in 1984. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Mr. John Link; and two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Gann and Mrs. Cornelia Nifong.   Surviving is a daughter, Charm Elizabeth Wicks Dellinger of the home; and a sister, Mrs. Ruby Cline of Anderson, S.C.   The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.   Memorials may be made to Second Presbyterian Church, P.O.
