Zola Surratt Younts, age 86 of New Bowers Road, Lexington passed away Saturday morning September 24, 2016 at Hinkle Hospice House, after declining health of 6 months. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 27, 2016 in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alex Nance officiating. Burial will follow at New Friendship United Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the service. Mrs. Younts was born in Davidson County December 2, 1929 to John Roosevelt and Ellie Smith Surratt. She was a retired employee of Lucia Company and worked for Von’s Kids Daycare. She was a charter member of New Friendship United Church of Christ, the Women’s Guild and Stewards of the Paraments. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Haywood Younts in 1994; sisters, Geraldine Nance and Elwanda Hooper; brother, Daniel Lawrence Surratt and son-in-law, Lonnie Grubb. Surviving are her daughter, Opal Grubb of Lexington; son, Avery Younts (Debra) of Lexington; 6 grandchildren, Jason Grubb (Angie), Hope Grubb-Keene (Gerald), Travis Grubb (Jennifer), Jodie Hall (Will), Garrett Younts (Susanna) and Caleb Younts and 11 great-grandchildren, Cameron Grubb, Daniel Grubb, Bryson Grubb, Trevor Grubb, Jaycob Grubb, Abby Grubb, Kristina Keene, Joshua Keene, Millie Younts, Kellan Hall, and Camden Hall; brother, Charles Spencer Surratt of Denton.
