Zula Leonard Swing

July 24, 1919 — March 31, 2011

Zula Jane Leonard Swing, 91, of West Center Street Ext., died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at her home. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2011, at Davidson Funeral Home with the Rev. David Purdy officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the home of her son, Ed, at Mitchell Avenue. Mrs. Swing was born July 24, 1919, in Davidson County, to Harvey Leonard and Flora Hanes Leonard. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Welcome and retired from Dixie/Lexington Home Brands after 56 years of service. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Early Junior Swing; a brother, Hoy Leonard; sisters, Kathleen Weaver and Racie Thomason. Surviving are son, William “Ed” Heitman and wife, Sherry, of Lexington; daughter, Gloria Tofano and husband, Dennis, of Wyoming; grandchildren, Eddie Heitman and wife, Tina, Kara Chase and husband, Billy, all of Lexington; Brice Heitman and wife, Lindsay, of Winston-Salem, Michele Flowers of California, Robbie Flowers and wife, Karen, of Oregon, Stacey Jones and husband, Matt, of Maryland, and Lindy Flowers of New York; great-grandchildren, Ty Heitman and Eli Jones; sister, Florence Leonard; and good and loving friends, Adrain and Kathryn Neal.
